Ducklings, Garden and Rose Arbor

We finally found some ducklings local. Here are the 3 Cayugas.
Bean poles... been having a lot of problems with them this year. Can see the pumpkin plants in the middle.

Cauliflower, onions and peas in the background.

Potato bed in the front and all the other Veggies in the garden.

The old Climbing rose that came with the farm, wasn't looking so good. So DH used an Aspen tree he had taken down to make a rustic arbor for the old climbing rose. I think it looks quite nice and shows off the rose blooms.

Edda photographs

This is Edda's true coloring. This photo was taken in the shade and shows her light silvery grey mane.
The rest of the photos in the bright yellowish light of this morning... made her color not look correct.
Here are some up to date photos of Edda,, who is growing like a weed.

Can see how wavy her tail is.

Your no fun.. think I will just play with the daisy's.

What do you have in your hand? No Edda,, you can't play with the camera.

Depending on how you look at it...,, could be someone is short enough to get a good itch ..or someone is tall enough to reach the best itching spots?
Yes, I know Theia is overweight,,,, we are working on it.

Working in the Garden and Mia's says hi......or some such..

DH decided to do a couple of photos of DS and I working in the garden yesterday. Think we are finally beating back the weeds.
Can see DS weeding around the potato bed.

Ah.... the tough life of a cat in this house.

DH took this candid shot of Mia when she just woke up from her nap...... Yawning, saying hi, singing or....?? :O) Or is she saying Hi to Brandy?? ;O)

More Edda Videos

I want to get action video shorts but it hasn't worked out yet. By the time I hobble out there, she is done.....

I have Ella in the foals pasture during the day to give the foal a buddy... Stjarna doesn't mind her as much as she does the other horses at this point. Not sure if Dyfra is happy sharing her Donkey pet ???

Sewing ~ and this and that....

So the binding on Dyfra's 3 year old fly sheet, finally wore to shreds. So I used some very heavy duty curtain material I have had for years and made her a fancy new binding. Not the best sewing job but hopefully it will last a couple of years. The things I do for my horses. LOL

Weather has been very nice here lately. Not to cold nor too hot.
Worked on some Strawberries this morning and they are now marinating in some powdered sugar. We have been eating Lettuce, Spinach and Peas out of the garden so far.
Got the cats nails trimmed and soft paws put on,, they were also brushed.
DH & DS are getting ready to make some flat bread outside, over the BBQ. Hope to get some photos of it this time. Flat bread makes some great sandwiches.

DH needs to take care of a rather large yellow jacket nest under one of the house eves. Should prove interesting. :O)
Did get the monthly letter out to Great Grammy,, hopefully she will recieve it by the end of the week.
We are all staying pretty busy...there is always something to do.

More Edda pictures

There was a beacon of sunshine streaming through the dark clouds last night, so I decided to take some photos. Above Edda is playing with her mother's feed pan and below...they are both thinking about taking a nap.

Peeling logs, pretty flowers and horses of course~

We need to partly enclose both ends of the horses big shed. Can't afford to buy materials so DH is gathering and starting to peel some Alder. I know its not the longest lasting wood but its free.

DH took some pretty photos of a couple of the Rhodie bushes we have.

I took a photo of some of the old fashioned Pansy's and one of my Clematis is blooming!

Head shots of Stjarna and her filly Edda..... sticking her tongue out of course. LOL

Edda

Edda and Stjarna video

Stjarna is slowly gaining weight and looking a whole lot better. She still has some sores in various places but even they seem to be getting better, if slowly. Edda is doing well, happy and starting to play more. Has been a long time since I have had a baby horse on the place....we are all really enjoying it.

Theia was our last foal and she will be 6 years old at the end of June. Where has the time gone?!

Icelandic filly pictures and a video

DH took some photos of me this morning...when I was trying to take photos of the filly. She had more interest in the buttons on my jacket.

Stjarna doesn't look as good as I would like in this video... however, she is looking much better in person. But here is Edda...

The Icelandic Filly is finally born

Presenting the Silver Bay Icelandic filly. In the process of picking a name for her.
Curious wee filly. Can see the grey mane and the white with a bit of grey on top tail and an itty bitty wee star on her face.
She is a Glymur frá Innri-Skeljabrekka granddaughter, out of Stjarna fra Chapman Crest and Dynfaxi fra Rivendell.

Flowering Tress and Nari

One of the Japanese Flowering Cherry trees.

Flowering cherry and the old Apple tree. Blossoms are much prettier in person.

Equines taking a nap and if you look closely,, can see the flower petals drifting in the wind.

A carpet of fresh flower petals...

Nari being cute.

The Dance of the Cherry bloosms ~ Videos

As you can see... it was very nice the other day. The Japanese Cherry bloosms were drifting by in the wind.

Took a photo of Nari, DS and the cherry petals moving around in a flurry of wind.

The Garden ~

I know it is looking more like a dirt garden but things will grow an take over in time. Photos were taken a couple of weeks ago. Brussels sprout plants in front and planted my Artichoke in the pot to help protect it from the gopher...Crossing my fingers it will work.
Peas on the hog panels in the back.. then cauliflower, broccoli and three tiny bell pepper plants in front.

Bean poles... rustic ones again to add more character to the garden. LOL...
You can not see them here but both the bush and pole beans are coming up, too.
So the Kitchen garden is slowly getting there .

Coopworth fingering Yarn ~ Handspun

I now have both skeins of Coopworth Yarn finished. The size is "fingering" and is a Heathered Taupe in color, quite striking. Will have this yarn for sale on my Esty shop if anyone is interested. Because this does not have silk in it... is much cheaper.

Double Rainbow~

Everyone else has a "Pot O Gold" under their rainbows... look what we have. LOL
Can see the rainbow goes just about down to the very old Tractor.

Closeup

Early evening yesterday I had a feeling the weather was going to get bad, so I fed Stjarna early and I let DS know that it would be a good idea for him to get the other animals done early too. He of course...... did not listen. Just as I walk into the house the sky opens up like I have never seen it before on this side of the Country, wind gust so strong and came out of no where nearly made DS face plant himself into the ground... luckily Maggie was there to hold him up. He managed to get the chores done but now soaked to the skin, he comesback in the house and Thunder and Lightening start.
Once it all blew over and a tiny bit of sun shone through the clouds..we get this beautiful double Rainbow.

Rainbow was so big there was no way for me to get it all in one shot. If it wasn't lightly raining.. I would of tried to set the tri pod up and do a panoramic shot. Ah well.. maybe next time.
